Bob Cuenca Wins the Battle

Written in the Year 2000.
Robert “Bob” Cuenca is both a Negrense planter and a breeder. In 1987, he first up his game farm in a two-hectare area in the family-owned Hda. Pacita. He also maintained a cord farm in Guintubdan–both in La Carlota City.

He has kept this operation for 12 years before he decided to find another place because diseases had been attacking his flock in the last five years. He realized that the place at Hda. Pacita is no longer conducive for breeding.

Looking for a fresh place to move his breeding into, he found a 30-hectare area in Hagdan, Bago City that was still unexploited. It had an elevation of about 2,500 feet above sea level and flowing water from the mountains just pour into the area. There were no breeders yet all around so it was the freshest and the best place that a breeder could find.

Bob got excited with this new place that he brought his flock of 7-month old stags up in the new place. However, the change in altitude, the climate, the wet surroundings, and the cold nights shocked the young birds. About 25% of the population died.

But the following year, the breeder knew that he made the right decision when he moved up here. His production increased, mortality rate was below 10%, and the use of antibiotics was greatly reduced.

Bob Cuenca was really happy to have found the place in Hagdan that gave his breeding a fresh start. Now, it is not only a game farm, but a retirement and recreation area as well for him and his family.
